We have also participated in the Theatre Works Productions that come to the Anderson Center four times during the school year. We have had an ethnic
festival to share the different heritages present in our school family.
An event that has become a tradition is our Celebrity Read-a-Thon, which occurs during Catholic Schools Week. Politicians, radio and local television
personalities, and our Assistant Superintendent and Principals and others are invited to come to read their favorite children’s book to a class. This
is a wonderful day in which the children witness how important reading is in everyday life.
We offer a Summer Enrichment Program for students for four or five weeks in the summer. This includes indoor and outdoor games and activities
supervised by St. Thomas faculty members. Each summer we select a specific theme and projects are oriented to it. Some of the themes that we
have done are: the rainforest, weather, desert, the planets and outer space. Participation is extremely flexible as children may either attend
half day or full day sessions, as infrequently or frequently as you wish.
For the past ten years we have had a Science Fair in the spring. Students choose a topic that they would like to learn about. Family members are
encouraged to help their child gather information and develop the project. The projects are then brought to school for the students to present to
their respective classes. They are also set up in the gym for an evening for parents, families and friends to come to see.
